Accountant

Murrays Coaches is currently seeking an Accountant to join the finance team located in our Head Office in Canberra.

Reporting directly to Financial Controller, your role will require you to be self-motivated, have strong attention to detail and solid analytical skills.

Murrays Coaches are a family-owned business operating since 1966. We provide ground transport to peak sporting bodies and teams, event companies, schools and corporate customers, and we operate regular express services in QLD, NSW & the ACT.

The Responsibilities

• Preparation and maintenance of general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate classification and reconciliation of financial transactions;
• Weekly bank account reconciliation;
• Monthly credit card and prepaid card reconciliations;
• Manage all aspects of the fixed asset register;
• Assist with management of the company’s FBT, PAYG and GST exposure;
• Assist with preparation of year-end accounts and supporting schedules for external auditors;
• Ability to cover the accounts receivable / payable roles when colleagues are on leave:
• Assist with ad-hoc finance tasks as required

About You

To be successful in this role you will have tertiary qualifications in accounting or a similar discipline and have a minimum of 2-3 years experience. Proficiency in Word and Excel is essential.
